Obama picked Biden for VP but I love Hillary! Well, to more exact, I love
any of Hillary's pissed off supporters who want to vote against Obama and
for McCain. If any of you are naive enough to think Hillary isn't secretly
rooting for McCain, you're kidding yourselves. Oh, she'll go through the
motions of supporting Obama and Biden. After all, he's helping her pay off
the millions she owes in campaign debt. But make no mistake. Hillary is
getting ready for her 2012 presidential run and the last thing she wants is
Obama in the White House.

Now here's the beauty part:

"There has been no harsher critic of Barack Obama's lack of experience than
Joe Biden," McCain campaign spokesman Ben Porritt said in a written
statement. "Biden has denounced Barack Obama's poor foreign policy judgment
and has strongly argued in his own words what Americans are quickly
realizing -- that Barack Obama is not ready to be president."
During another debate, moderator George Stephanopoulos referred to some of
Biden's comments on Obama.

"You were asked, 'Is he ready?' You said, 'I think he can be ready, but
right now, I don't believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends
itself to on-the-job training,'" Biden said he stood by his words. Of
course that was before he got offered the VP job.

So, come on you Hillary supporters! Don't vote for the bastard that dumped
our girl Hillary. Vote McCain and teach that ultra liberal,
surrender-in-Iraq, tax raising, left wing ass wipe Obama a lesson!

Why panic? I think the Dems made an incredible mistake in going w/ Obama.
If McCain is still alive and healthy on election day I think he will win.

Do you know that I have insomnia? I take various and assorted sleeping
pills, I have a massage chair to relax me, I drink a soothing cup of decaf
tea and I still can't sleep. So what I count on is this here forum (and
2p2, and porn) along w/ some low-limit online poker to tide me over until
I can get to bed. The point is this: If you are going to accommodate me
with posts in the middle of the night (which I do appreciate) would you at
least put a little meat into them in order to keep my interest and help me
out? I mean, after all, you're like a regular. You've got to keep up the
volume or Russ or Risky Biz, or even Irish Mike will outpace you and you
can't have that can you? Can you?

So get to putting up some posts, GD It! I don't care what they are and
neither do you: Light bulbs, spaghetti........ANYTHING and get Ramashiva
to start posting again also while you are at it. And now I'm going to sit
on the uh, er, well I'll have a smoke and read a magazine and when I get
back I expect to see something.

Thank you for your cooperation.

I had Hillary picked as the VP pick all the way. There were so many
reasons why an Obama/Hillary ticket made sense.

The first black AND woman on the same ticket would seem irresistible to
the Democrat establishment.

Hillary got an enormous amount of votes in the primaries, including the
big states, which goes without saying. Plus, all the delegates she won.

Right now, 20% of the former, primary Hillary votes have flipped to
McCain. A full one third of all of the former Hillary votes are
undecided; that's huge, considering that they're liberal or liberal
leaning moderates and aren't automatically going with the remaining
Democrat candidate, Obama.

Announcing Joe Biden as the VP pick has to be one of the all time buzz
killers among a presidential candidate's supporters. Maybe Obama
thinks Delaware is a major swing state among the "57 states". :-)

Maybe Hillary didn't want the VP spot and positioning herself for a
future run at the it, but I'm not convinced that's the case. A VP is
pretty close to becoming President at any time, and VP incumbents
almost always have a considerable advantage when running for President.
Plus, she'd be the first woman Vice President of The United States.

Biden has to be a net minus for the campaign. Also, there aren't any
that are more "Washington insider" than Joe Biden. So much for the
"change theme".

It really doesn't look good for Obama at this point, which is the
important thing, and the horror of the thought that the Clintons could
possibly be back in the White House is over; at least for a few years.

Bob Beckel predicted that McCain will announce, at some point, that
he's only going to serve one term. That would certainly brighten the
picture considerably, with the prospect of Romney running as an
incumbent VP in four years against Hillary. It would be a big incentive
for the Republicans to get out and vote on election day.

When will the Democrats learn that they can't run these radical left
wing candidates and expect to win the a presidential election?

Well Travel, in all fairness, there is one valid reason why Obama did not
pick Hillary for VP. If you were elected president, how well would you
sleep at night knowing that your beating heart was the only obstacle
standing between Hillary & Slick Willie and the oval office? Hell Obama
would have to double his secret service guards and hire a food taster. Not
to mention that Obama mama and Hillary hate each other.

It really is a break that the Clintons, who made a mockery of the
office of the President, won't be going back to the White House no
matter what happens.

Beside what you pointed out about Obama being able sleep with both eyes
closed at night, he doesn't have to worry about those two upstaging him
whenever they get the chance, either.

But, of course, Obama won't win anyway. The left wing just hasn't
dumbed down America enough, yet,

It'll be a horse race for sure. When guys like *me* are on the fence about
it you know it will be tight. I don't see that McCain has much to offer.
He'll keep us in Iraq and likely get us embroiled into some shit in Iran or
other places (Russia is lurking), and I don't see he has much new to offer
on domestic policy.

Obama wants to take away all the guns (a very big issue for me) and he does
seem to suggest that government has all the answers and that government
programs can fix whatever problems arise.

Then, he picks Biden??? Biden? Really? The Killer Rabbit Grin himself.

Obama should have shunned all politicians and picked someone from the
business world or Wall Street; or even tapped Colin Powell or even Condy
Rice (!). He made a big mistake by not riding the "change" card all the way
because it has carried him this far. I don't know if he is just paying off
political debts or what, but that decision really turns me off.

In fact, I don't like the idea of Biden being one heartbeat away from the
Presidency. Truly awful decision.

I do not think that Clave is BobT, but I am disappointed in the "new"
sockpuppets cropping up almost every day.

You have seen less and less of me ... which may be a good thing for all of
us. The new group of sockpuppets has taken a lot of the fun out of the
discussions. Many of the threads are just ... well, boring. What these new
guys think is clever is just crud.

I do not know where BobT has been, but I doubt that he is such a coward as
to hide behind a sockpuppet.

I think the new ones are mostly young with a few old guys that are just
"afraid" of anyone knowing who they really are. That sort of perverse fun,
while understandable, is not excusable.

I have enjoyed the return of Robert Ladd. I disagree with James Hankins
some of the time, but he is a real person and he is not disingenuous. I
"know" eleaticus and seldom agree with him, but he has interesting thoughts,
even if sometimes strange. Even Orange is predictable as is Irish Mike and
many others.

Joe Long is Joe Long ... whether I agree with him or not, he is who he is
and is not afraid to be himself. Gary Carson is another that does not hide
in the shadows of anonymity. I am not including everyone or omitting anyone
on purpose, this is just a general rant.

The trout has adopted a strange out-of-context style of late. I know him to
be much more analytical than he has shown lately.

These new (many are obviously oldsters with a new disguise) folks all act
like children in the schoolyard. Or worse yet, they are the sorts that do
bad things in the dark are fear "discovery." They reap their reward of
scorn and pity.

Personally, I don't think that all those new posters are sockpuppets.

This is, after all the beginning of the start of the Prime Time

I think it is more likely that those new posters are simply people who
have gotten geeked up by the latest talking points bulletin from Party

As I remember Bob T, you could at least get a two-way conversation

OK, I'll oblige. But, it says a lot about your awareness of Obama on the
issues if you have to be convinced of this statement with a cite. Obama is
adamantly anti-gun. That is common knowledge with which anyone, by this
stage of the election, should be fully aware.

Although I think I'm being trolled here, I'll bite one time:

http://www.ontheissues.org/domestic/Barack_Obama_Gun_Control.htm

http://www.gunowners.org/pres08/obama.htm

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1971710/posts

http://www.nysun.com/national/obama-characterized-as-friend-of-gun-control/74947/

The key thing is to distinguish between his actions and votes on gun control
legislation with his campaign rhetoric. He has softened his stance since
running for President (I use the word "softened" liberally since he has had
to backbeddle and explain that he is not in favor of an outright ban, even
though it appears he was), but his actions prior to running for President
place him squarely within the group of hardcore gun control advocates.

There's that same special touch of stupity your writing styles share.

Voting for reasonable controls on firearms is not "taking away all the

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/630645/barak_obamas_gun_control_positions.html?cat=75:

"According to the 1998 Illinois State Legislative National Political
Awareness Test of July 2, 1998, Obama also supports the banning of all
semi-automatic weapon sales and transfers. When most people hear
"semi-automatic weapon", they think of the gun in the hand of the gang
banger. That may be true, but there are a lot of other guns that are
semi-automatic, which would also be included in such bans. Shotguns, for
example, that are used by bird hunters would fall under the ban. The only
reason to try to ban a whole class of gun, with such a wide stroke, is to
start the progression of banning all guns eventually."

In The Audacity of Hope, Obama had this to say: "I believe in keeping guns
out of our inner cities, and that our leaders must say so in the face of the
gun manufacturer's lobby. But I also believe that when a gang banger shoots
indiscriminately into a crowd because he feels someone disrespected him, we
have a problem of morality. Not only do we need to punish that man for his
crime, but we need to acknowledge that there's a hole in his heart, one that
government programs alone may not be able to repair." Obama blames most of
these inner city shootings on "unscrupulous gun dealers dumping guns in the
inner city."

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/01/17/politics/main2369157.shtml:

He also opposed letting people use a self-defense argument if charged with
violating local handgun bans by using weapons in their homes. The bill was a
reaction to a Chicago-area man who, after shooting an intruder, was charged
with a handgun violation.

http://www.ontheissues.org/domestic/Barack_Obama_Gun_Control.htm:

Obama was being misleading when he denied that his handwriting had been on a
document endorsing a state ban on the sale and possession of handguns in
Illinois. Obama responded, "No, my writing wasn't on that particular
questionnaire. As I said, I have never favored an all-out ban on handguns."
Actually, Obama's writing was on the 1996 document, which was filed when
Obama was running for the Illinois state Senate. A Chicago nonprofit,
Independent Voters of Illinois, had this question, and Obama took hard line:

35. Do you support state legislation to:
a. ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns? Yes.
b. ban assault weapons? Yes.
c. mandatory waiting periods and background checks? Yes.

Obama's campaign said, "Sen. Obama didn't fill out these state Senate
questionnaires--a staffer did--and there are several answers that didn't
reflect his views then or now. He may have jotted some notes on the front
page of the questionnaire, but some answers didn't reflect his views."

If you follow Obama's views on gun control, he believes that the gun-related
crime in the inner-city of Chicago can be addressed by banning guns.

I was able to overlook his nutty gun views because the Supreme Court decided
Heller which would seem to pre-empt any sort of outright ban.

Then, he goes and picks Biden. I hope Hillary puts on her jock strap, locks
and loads, and goes to the convention looking to be the Prez.

Yah, yah -- slippery slope, blah blah blah. I don't buy it.

Regulation is not infringement.

<...>

Rather than go back years and years, why not look at what he's saying today?

Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would
repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local
law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and
give police officers across the nation the tools they need to
solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama also
favors commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment
rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and
from criminals who shouldn't have them. He supports closing the
gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof.
He also supports making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban
permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not
on our streets.

Doesn't sound like he wants to "take all the guns away".

If McCain is still alive and healthy on election day I think he will win.
It'll be a horse race for sure. When guys like *me* are on the fence
about it you know it will be tight. I don't see that McCain has much to
offer. He'll keep us in Iraq and likely get us embroiled into some shit in
Iran or other places (Russia is lurking), and I don't see he has much new
to offer on domestic policy.
They're both weak candidates.
They'll both do better than Bush.

Obama wants to take away all the guns (a very big issue for me) and he
does seem to suggest that government has all the answers and that
government programs can fix whatever problems arise.
Then, he picks Biden??? Biden? Really? The Killer Rabbit Grin himself.
Obama should have shunned all politicians and picked someone from the
business world or Wall Street; or even tapped Colin Powell or even Condy
Rice (!). He made a big mistake by not riding the "change" card all the
way because it has carried him this far. I don't know if he is just
paying off political debts or what, but that decision really turns me off.
He needs Hillary's base.
He falters in the polls enough, they'll figure they can endure McCain for
four years, then run her again.

It's becoming par for the course with Democratic candidates. Gore,

Bill Clinton was the only Dem candidate in over a generation who knew

It isn't Mike that should panic.

Go look at the reaction from Obama's base.

Hell, read this :

Some in Clinton's inner-circle are outraged.

(CNN) - Evan as Hillary Clinton praised the newly-minted Democratic
presidential ticket Saturday, some in her circle are furious Barack Obama
did not appear to give the New York Democrat serious consideration for the
No. 2 spot, or even ask for her consultation on the matter.

"Set aside that Obama said she'd be on anybody's short list, set aside
anybody's feelings on whether she was deliberately snubbed and the pros and
cons of whether it should be her," a former Clinton strategist told CNN's
Candy Crowley. "Focus on the politics of it and you have about a quarter of
Clinton loyalists still not joining the caravan.for God's sake, not to even
make a show of taking her seriously is flatly stupid."

A top Clinton advisor also told CNN they were "outraged," over how the
process was conducted.

"You can't put [Obama VP vetters] Eric Holder and Caroline Kennedy on an
hour plane ride to Chappaqua just to check the box? They should have done it
just for the optics," this person said. "Barack never even said to her,
'Here's how I envision the job'- not one discussion with her about [the
position]."

"They thought her supporters were mad before? They are really mad now," this
person also said. We knew it was never going to happen but you would have
thought they might at least make a show of it."

Former Clinton strategist Paul Begala echoed similar frustrations on CNN
Friday night.

"I think there are a lot of Hillary voters who are going to say, 'Hey, wait
a minute, man You said you were going to put her on the short list. You
know, you didn't even vet her. You didn't call her. You didn't seek her
advice,'" Begala said. "By the way, he didn't seek President Clinton's
advice either. He's actually the guy who I think picked the best vice
president in American history. You would think maybe you would sort of check
in with him."

Obama picked Biden for VP but I love Hillary! Well, to more exact, I love
any of Hillary's pissed off supporters who want to vote against Obama and
for McCain. If any of you are naive enough to think Hillary isn't
secretly rooting for McCain, you're kidding yourselves. Oh, she'll go
through the motions of supporting Obama and Biden. After all, he's
helping her pay off the millions she owes in campaign debt. But make no
mistake. Hillary is getting ready for her 2012 presidential run and the
last thing she wants is Obama in the White House.
"There has been no harsher critic of Barack Obama's lack of experience
than Joe Biden," McCain campaign spokesman Ben Porritt said in a written
statement. "Biden has denounced Barack Obama's poor foreign policy
judgment and has strongly argued in his own words what Americans are
quickly realizing -- that Barack Obama is not ready to be president."
During another debate, moderator George Stephanopoulos referred to some of
Biden's comments on Obama.
"You were asked, 'Is he ready?' You said, 'I think he can be ready, but
right now, I don't believe he is. The presidency is not something that
lends itself to on-the-job training,'" Biden said he stood by his words.
Of course that was before he got offered the VP job.
So, come on you Hillary supporters! Don't vote for the bastard that
dumped our girl Hillary. Vote McCain and teach that ultra liberal,
surrender-in-Iraq, tax raising, left wing ass wipe Obama a lesson!
Irish Mike
Ugh. Biden has to be the absolute worst. No charisma, no special
accomplishments, milque-toast personality, white-bread career politician
with nothing to offer. Just horrible.

I'm very disappointed with this. Obama has made his bones by not being
establishment. And here he goes, choosing Mr. Establishment as the Veep.

How in the hell did you come to that totally incorrect conclusion? Obama
sells himself as being all about change and ending politics as usual. Biden
*is* politics as usual. He totally contradicts every thing the Obama
campaign claimed it was going to do. Not to mention that Biden is on record
criticizing Obama and praising McCain.

=======================================

What sort of fiction (other than the fictional kind) are you attempting?
The great American novel? Screenplays, essays, electronics-manuals? With
what are you having difficulty, if anything? [Wow, what a sentence!]
Fiction is so hard because it is often untrue; but so many authors write
from life and just spin it a little. [At least, that is what I have heard.]
RGP has indeed become somewhat boring at this particular point in history
... I blame global warming and all the budding fiction writers [present
company excluded].

How was BARGE?

Since I did not repeat, that part sucked. Especially since I went out on a
MISTAKE. You live and die taking advantage of the mistakes of others.
Avoiding mistakes is critical. I made a mistake and I did not suck out and
recover. Lesson repeated, as it does so often. Nice to have you back, even

I have a mediocre American novel in mind. I've written plenty of
technical documents in my time, I have no interest in writing more of
those. I write software for a living, but that's not at all the same
thing.

myself not to waste time posting very often, but I still read most of
the crap that people post here.

I have a mediocre American novel in mind. I've written plenty of
technical documents in my time, I have no interest in writing more of
those. I write software for a living, but that's not at all the same
thing.
I have always enjoyed Hemingway's four rules:
http://www.copyblogger.com/ernest-hemingway-top-5-tips-for-writing-well/

A few Hemingway quotes on Writing: [not my compilation]

"Eschew the monumental. . . Shun the Epic. All the guys who can paint great
big pictures can paint great small ones."

When "stuck" he would say to himself "Do no worry. You have always written
before and you will write now. All you have to do is write one true
sentence. Write the truest sentence that you know . . . If I start to write
elaborately, or like someone introducing or presenting something, I found
that I could cut that scrollwork or ornament out and throw it away and start
with the first true simple declarative sentence I had written."

When asked "How much should you write a day?", he said, "The best way is
always to stop when you are going good and when you know what will happen
next. If you do that every day when you are writing a novel you will never
get stuck. That is the most valuable thing I can tell you so try to remember
it."

In a letter to Charles Scribner: "Charlie there is no future in anything. I
hope you agree. That is why I like it at a war. Every day and every night
there is a strong possibility that you will get killed and not have to
write. I have to write to be happy . . . . But it is a hell of a disease to
be born with. I like to do it. Which is even worse. That makes it from a
disease into a vice. Then I want to do it better than anybody has ever done

With what are you having difficulty, if anything? [Wow, what a sentence!]
I have a tendency to waste time instead of writing. I've trained
myself not to waste time posting very often, but I still read most of
the crap that people post here.
Writing is hard.

Fiction is so hard because it is often untrue; but so many authors write
from life and just spin it a little. [At least, that is what I have heard.]
Shit, you mean somebody else thought of that trick first?
I think "everyone" thought of that first. Making shit up is for RGP
posters.

RGP has indeed become somewhat boring at this particular point in history
... I blame global warming and all the budding fiction writers [present

Obama this, McCain that, boring boring boring.

Since I did not repeat, that part sucked. Especially since I went out on a
MISTAKE. You live and die taking advantage of the mistakes of others.
Avoiding mistakes is critical. I made a mistake and I did not suck out and
recover. Lesson repeated, as it does so often. Nice to have you back, even
for a moment.
Condolences. I bet you had fun during the week, though.
Indeed ... we missed you. Lots of new folks. It was indeed fun.

This is very sound advice, and it applies to more than just writing.

So, where have you been?
Working and trying to learn how to write fiction. Oddly enough, RGP
turns out not to be a critical component of my life.
=======================================
What sort of fiction (other than the fictional kind) are you attempting?
"The Wit and Wisdom of Bob T.", naturally.

Available in paperback. (actually, it's just a flyer)

Obama picked Biden for VP but I love Hillary! Well, to more exact, I
love
any of Hillary's pissed off supporters who want to vote against Obama and
for McCain. If any of you are naive enough to think Hillary isn't
secretly rooting for McCain, you're kidding yourselves. Oh, she'll go
through the motions of supporting Obama and Biden. After all, he's
helping her pay off the millions she owes in campaign debt. But make
no
mistake. Hillary is getting ready for her 2012 presidential run and
the
last thing she wants is Obama in the White House.
During another debate, moderator George Stephanopoulos referred to
some
of
Biden's comments on Obama.
"You were asked, 'Is he ready?' You said, 'I think he can be ready, but
right now, I don't believe he is. The presidency is not something that
lends itself to on-the-job training,'" Biden said he stood by his
words.
Obama clearly has gone insane.
However, neither he nor Biden is set yet.
If the polls tank a medium amount, Joey B may suddenly have personal
problems to take care of and step aside for Hillary.
If they tank a LOT, someone else may step aside for Hillary.
No way Obama steps down at this point. Maybe the superdelegates will
change their minds.
I didn't say a WILLING step-aside.
But he has to know this... if he runs and loses, he's done. He drops 25
points in the polls (a HUGE "If"), and the DNC chair comes to him and says,
"Um, we think you can't win now.... do you EVER want to be President", what
do you think he says?
You think that he could run for president in the future after stepping
aside at the last minute? Really???
***
Yes, I think if he does it for the 'good of the party', he gets mega brownie
points, and if he learns from this NOT to promise moonbeams he can't
deliver, he'll be a more effective general election candidate.

This election SHOULD be a walk in the park for the D candidate, and he's
falling in the polls.

Losing this time out is eternal damnation for taking the shot away from
Hillary, a candidate that, though lots don't like, few feel couldn't close
the deal in November.

When you're right, you're right Bob. No way Obama would ever step
aside -regardless of the polls. And if the Democrat delegates even hinted
that they wanted him too - Al Sharpton would have people rioting in the
streets faster than they could hot wire a car. Obama is their candidate -
period. Question is, what will Hillary's supporters do? She got 18,000,000
votes in the primaries compared to Biden's few thousand and out girl gets
passed over for VP? You got some pissed off campers out there Bob.

I was referring to Obams's original Iraq surrender plan. You know, the one
when he said the surge wouldn't work and he would pull out the troops the
day after he took office.
